After receiving cosmetic surgery, you hope to come out with the perfect result. In fact, you expect to — you expect to look exactly the way you envisaged you would pre-operation. Sometimes, however, things do not work go to plan. This is because cosmetic surgery complications can and often do arise.
If something does go wrong for you after you’ve been under the knife, then you cannot stand for it. You have to take these three steps if you want to rectify the situation:
Book a consultation with your surgeon
Before you run into your surgeon’s office all guns blazing, you should take some time to reflect on what has transpired. You should consider what complications have arisen and if they can be remedied by you simply allowing your body time to heal.
If, after your time of reflection, you still feel that your surgery wasn’t performed correctly, you need to take your queries directly to the surgeon that treated you. Be honest with them in regards to how you feel about their work. There can be no beating around the bush, you have to get straight to the point, and you have to tell them how you feel about your operation. Try not to assign blame at this time, though, even if you do feel like they are at fault, as that might not get you the solution that you want. Make sure to listen to what they say in regards to all of your potential solutions, too.
Consider a rectifying operation
If you feel that the solutions that your surgeon provided aren’t at all helpful, and if your problems haven’t gone away despite your healing process now being complete, then having a rectifying operation has to become a possibility for you. Before deciding to take such a course of action, however, you need to weigh up the potential risks and costs, and you simply have to take the worst-case scenario into consideration. Too many operations can be calamitous for the body due to all the strain they put them under, which means a second rectifying surgery could do you more harm than good. Again, speak to your surgeon about all your possible options or even speak to your own doctor about the situation.
Claim whatever you may be owed
If there are no solutions to your problems and a second surgery doesn’t feel right for you, then, at some point, you have to cut your losses and move on. This doesn’t, however, mean moving on without getting everything that is owed to you in regards to compensation for surgical negligence. To claim what is owed to you, you should align yourself with a solicitor that knows how to get such compensation. Preferably, you should work alongside one that operates on a no win no fee format, as this will ensure that you are not left out of pocket at all by your surgical complications.
Complications do arise with operations, and you should always take this into account when you go under the knife. If you do find yourself suffering from any problems after any cosmetic surgery that you receive, make sure to remember all the advice that you’ve come across above.
