rebranding & highstreet brands

Long time no see, well, almost. I had a busy week and did lots of awesome things but I’m going to tell you about those later, still browsing the pics. Busy bee today again, but because I woke really early, I want to tell you a little story that happened a couple of weeks ago and speak about vouchers, again.
Now, for one of my grad classes I had to do a project about rebranding,  so far so good, the fun part was that I forgot about until the day of the presentation. What to do, what to do, quick and easy to talk about? Hmm, Saint Laurent it is!
The other fun part about fashion branding or designer projects is that the teachers usually don’t have a clue what are you talking about, which is really good, trust me. I did a paper on ro designers, Zara and now Saint Laurent, almost no questions and good grades.
The presentation went well, I was a bit too passionate and had an argument with a fellow student. My presentation contained a couple of pics from Hedi Slimane’s grunge Fall Ready To Wear collection, a few from an earlier collection by Stefano Pilati and a couple of Topshop looks. And the fellow student I was talking about said she would pay 2000* euros on a SL dress which is similar to Topshop’s designs. My question was, why ? Why would you spend so much money on a Saint Laurent piece that resembles a Topshop one? Not the opposite. She didn’t answer of course…Not even buying for the label…. This is still an open question!

For edgy, grunge and so on, there’s Balenciaga, Alexander Wang, McQueen & co. I’m not a fashion critic nor do I have the intention to be, I’m talking from a financial & aesthetic standpoint. YSL , in my book, stands for luxury, elegance and innovation not grunge going wild..
There are a lot of similar highstreet brands, Boden is the euro counterpart of J.Crew, Zara draws inspiration from anybody and everybody, Weekday is like a COS showroom ( both own by H&M) and the list goes on.. From the retails bunch French Connection Uk is a brand that I really love. Ok, you got the point.
In the beggining I said that I would tell you about voucher codes, well you can check a lot of them here, including Boden discounts.
This happens when I can’t sleep:)
