Erika Hendrix is an independent fashion designer from Germany and I fell in love with her designs. Her unique pieces blends with every style and her Spring/Summer 2010 Collection – Baby, you’re the ginchiest! it’s set to debut February 2010.
The 50’s theme is illustrated throughout the collection by the use of bows & ribbons, round collars, poodle skirts, and rompers, with a distinct motif that cohesively brings every piece together.
How did you get started fashion designing?
I started sewing in 2002. In 2005 i started my label ERIKA HENDRIX and started selling one-of-a-kind shirts to consigment stores all over Germany. After about a year i expanded to shorts, dresses, skirts. And in fall 2008 I brought out my first collection. I opened up my own store in Feb 09 in Mannheim, Germany.
Where do you get your inspiration?
Everyday life really. Anything can be inspiring, esecially if i am not looking for it.
Tell us more about your latest collection.
My SS10 collection is inspired by the 50s, rock’n’roll and pin-ups. Its sexy without showing too much skin. Its a limited collection because every piece is handmade by me. Sizes run XS-L and i use mainly cotton jersey/knit.
Who are your ideal customers?
I dont have an ideal customer in mind. Anyone can find something at ERIKA HENDRIX.Anyone that wants to feel and look good at the same time can wear ERIKA HENDRIX.
Do you have a favorite piece?
I have so many but my absolute favorite from the SS10 collection is the leopard/mint dress that has an empire waist and a cute round collor and bow.
My favorite piece right now is the Plaid Circle Dress, its so comfy and it looks so good!
How do you see yourself in 10 years?
I dont want to look ahead so far but i definetley want my brand to be known everywhere. Everyone needs to know about ERIKA HENDRIX – how comfy and wearable the clothes are!

I believe a key to a great designer is one who does not cater to a specific customer. Make all of their designs available to all walks of life and budgets.
