Ways to Stay Motivated and on Track with Your Weight Loss

After a long day at work, chasing after kids, running errands and dealing with the everyday it can be tough to find the motivation to stick to your diet and weight loss goals. Here are a few tips to help you stay on track:

Reward yourself

More often than not, motivation declines when attempting a weight loss program because of you’re being too strict with yourself. Whether this is strictness in regards to a particular food or drink that cannot be consumed, or a particular activity that cannot be enjoyed, being too regimented can be a surefire way to squash your motivation.

Instead, find ways to reward yourself every time you go for an extended period of time avoiding foods with empty calories or each time you reach your weekly exercise goals.  However, choose non-food rewards, to ensure you keep up the good work! Setting smart goals and rewarding yourself when you meet these milestones, can keep you motivated at every stage.

Use other’s weight loss stories

You’ll be surprised at just how helpful and motivating weight loss stories of others can be when you come to tackling your own weight loss goals. If you can find a story that resonates with you, whether you are the same age or have the same challenges, you’ll find the inspiration to keep working towards your goals.

Avoid your binging triggers

Sometimes, it is the situations you find yourself in that drive you to a certain unhealthy habit, such as binge eating or drinking. These situations are called triggers, and they can be anything from workplace stress to your favorite sporting events, and they are what drives you to overeat and seek the comfort you get from doing so. If you’re serious about losing weight and keeping that weight off, then try to avoid these triggers by taking yourself out of the situations that cause them.

Update your wardrobe

As you lose weight your clothes will fit differently. Suddenly a top or pair of pants that were tight may be baggy. Seeing your clothes hang differently on your body can be a great source of motivation. In addition, by giving away your old, oversized clothes, you may be removing a safety net. Furthermore, shopping for new pieces can be a good non-food reward when you meet your goals.

In order to stay on track with your weight loss goals, you have to also be motivated and know exactly what inspires you! These are a few tips to help you get started, but it’s also important that you explore some other ways that inspires you personally to really success and stick to a routine that works for you.
