I don’t always drive, but when I do, I drive 5 BMWs
Due to a series of fortunate events, last Friday I got the chance to participate in the BMW xDrive Live Tour 2014. In 270 minutes, I’ve fallen in love with driving, wasn’t quite the biggest fan until now. My car is a bit cray, cray, as her owner, so I kinda avoided driving, still, I do drive often. Also, wasn’t a big fan of speed either, but hey, when you have the right car…
But damn, driving with ehhm, a decent speed, on the highway, a BMW 640d xDrive Gran Coupé M Sport Edition, changes everything. Everything darlings, everything! Insert evil laugh here.
The tour had four parts:
- BMW xDrive Home ( coord by race car driver Claudiu Daniel) – got to get a feel of the new BMW X5 , heavenly, my darlings, heavenly.
- Performance Park ( coord by Mihai Beldie ) – to demonstrate the dynamic point of view of the cars, how they tackle corners so that the route becomes dynamic, faster and safer.The wheel drive system BMW xDrive eliminates the understeer / oversteer characteristic of the cars. Drove two series 3 BMWs here. Don’t ask me exactly which, ’cause I don’t have a clue. Bad blogger!
- The next part, Peak Activity ( coord by the extremely patient Mihai Aurel Beldie ) was mind blowing, the X5 is one powerful car. Great for off road the BMW xDrive system exercises climb uphill and downhill transfer torque between the axles and between wheels on the same axle. Also, in the case of low adhesion, Hill Descent Control system allows downhill without having to actuate the brake. So, if you have problems with ramps, the xDrive will practically do all the work and you won’t be stuck there. See a little clip of what I did on one of the ramps here. No brake needed! Went twice on this one, mwhahaha!
- And my favorite Innovation Lane ( coord Mihaela Beldie ), where we tried the xDrive system in traffic. I was smitten, started to talk to the cars, just ask Koko… Drove a BMW X5 M50d and the 640d I was telling you about earlier.
