Meeting Erdem Moralioglu at Net-a-Porter hq

 fangirl face activited
Finally posting about the Designer Clinic with Erdem that took place at the Net-a-porter headquarters!
I know I should have wrote about it earlier, because it was an amazing experience, Erdem is super nice, and the Poly team said that he was actually nervous about meeting us.  How about that?
Guess what keeps him awake? The color of the back of a button! Talk about perfectionism! You know, the brand’s believes in the perfect imperfection of the human hand…
I was mesmerized by the pre fall  and autumn winter 2013 collections which he talked us through.
For pre fall, Erdem played with tradition by justapoxing masculine and feminine by taking a houndstooth check and a plaid, layering each with floral prints.  Distorted print by large scale plastic sequins, embroidered on silk crepe in patterns to mimic fishscales. Inspired by the early work of Japanese film director Nagisa Oshima and the Saturation of colour in his film, “Pleasures of the flesh”, Erdem offered a beautiful color pallete of jewel tones, along with strong colors like emerald and fuchsia.
The main collection was yet inspired by another film, this time Ingmar Bergman’s noir film, “Persona”, Erdem focused on texture… paillettes with ostrich feathers, velvet and leather, anybody?
Also, embroidery becomes 3-Dimensional with floral embellishments & ostrich feathers, and sometimes a layer of organza.
The designer clinic with Nicholas Kirkwood and the beauty masterclass with Natuse Bisse coming soon.
