Bottega Veneta’s new clothes

Ehmm, not really new clothes… New site, new twitter, new facebook and new youtube chanel, a complete “outfit” if you ask me. Found out via Elle about Bottega Veneta’s rebranding, because this is a rebranding, right? Besided the social media frenzy, they came back to their roots ( aren’t we all?!), channeling their artisans and brand history. Of course, the new summer 2010 campaign, The Art Of Colaboration, is amazing.

  • Nan Goldin has been a unique and influential force in photography and film for close to 40 years. Her photographs are emotional, intimate, often autobiographical, and always empathetic. She has described her early work in terms ofa “snapshot aesthetic”, an effort to preserve moments, faces, friends, and memories before they vanish in time. While Goldin’s subject matter has varied over the years, the themes that interest her – love, friendship, sexuality, and gender – have not. It was the palpable empathy that permeates Goldin’s work that led Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier to approach her for the recent campaign. “The Spring-Summer 2010 collection is very personal, a collaboration with the woman who wears the clothes,” explains Maier. “Nan’s work is intensely personal, with a sincere and unusual focus on the individual. I also admire the formal beauty of her work, the distinctive sense of color and composition she brings to a photograph without ever seeming to impose her aesthetic on her subject.”
What do you think? Do you like Nan Goldin’s work?
