A couple of days ago I was having a conversation with a friend of mine and she said she hating all this „hipstareala” thing(hipsterism) . Me? I don’t hate it, I kinda like it.
So, what’s a hipster?
Hipsters, according to Urban Dictionary are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20’s and 30’s that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.
According to wikipedia, Hipster is a slang term that first appeared in the 1940s, and was revived in the 1990s and 2000s often to describe types of young, recently-settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers with interests in non-mainstream fashion and culture, particularly alternative music, indie rock, independent film, magazines such as Vice and Clash.

Hipster have a vintage&retro vibe, they shop from thrift stores, wear tight jeans, old-school sneakers, plaid shirts and tick rimmed glasses. Add a hat and some tattoos and you’re all set up:)
I don’t think being a hipster is bad, they have a great sense of style and c’mon who doesn’t love the tick rimmed glasses?

hipsters? ugh. love the style. hate the pretentious "holier than thou" attitude (although not all have that) … i think i hate the stereotype, but the reality isn't so bad…. its good for our culture actually…. yeah…. so i have a love/hate relationship with them… make sense? sort of…

It doesn't have to be bad. I don't think it's cool when hipsters attempt to be alternative and disparage others for being mainstream when they may in fact be just that. I do love me the vintage and retro vibe though of course!

Hipsters are good style wise but I wish they'd shut up about how many indie films they've seen this month etc…

I happened upon this post while in search of a hipster definition. I really like your take on the whole thing. It really is a mindset though, moreso than a fashion choice. I like to think of myself as hipster chic. I know that goes against all hipster ways, conforming to the popular term of chic. But, I cant decide what my style label is, otherwise.
